This equipment is used to coat substrates with microsphere adhesives, water based adhesives, primers, and topcoats.

The intent of this equipment is to coat a single pressure sensitive adhesive, primer, or topcoat on film and paper substrates. 

The coatings are most often applied to silicone coated liner. 

These coatings will have varying properties such as percent solids, viscosities, wet coating weights, and rheologies.

Substrates to be coated:

30-50# sck: 1.75-3.2mil

78# clay coat: 4.6mil

83#claycoat: 5.8mil

92#pck: 7.1mil

8-12pt board: 7.5-13mil

1-2mil PET

Web widths:

Several web widths will be run on this machine. The majority of the products to be processed will be 41, 55 and 61 inch in width. The equipment should allow material ranging in widths from 40 to 63 inches to be processed. This equipment needs to have the ability to apply coating at widths ranging from 39.75 to 60.75 inches.  

Line Speed:

The process line speed for this coater is 800fpm maximum. Line speeds typically range from 150-800fpm.

Tension:

Tension of the coated web could range from 50lb up to 300lb. This equates to .8pli-7.5pli. Tension differential from unwind to oven separated by the coating station infeed nip is as great as 135lbs or 3.4pli. 

Coating Die:

Max coat width of 60.75” 

Min coat width of 39.75”

Cavity should be designed to optimize flow uniformity through the die.  

The die should be able to coat with cross and machine direction uniformity. Variation should be no greater than 5%
